Privacy policy

HomelessHelper helps people locate shelter, food, healthcare, showers, and homelessness-system contacts. This policy applies to the HomelessHelper Alexa skill.

Information used

When you name a city, county, state, or ZIP code, the skill uses that location only to answer the current request. If you grant Alexa permission, the skill may request the country and postal code saved for your Alexa device. It does not request your full street address. A device address may be outdated and may not be the device's current physical location.

Storage and sharing

HomelessHelper does not create a user profile, require account linking, sell personal information, or persist the location returned by Alexa. Amazon processes voice interactions and permission choices under Amazon's own policies. The skill uses a location query only as needed to return directory information.

Provider information

Directory details come from provider and public-service sources, including HUD contacts. Schedules, vacancies, food stocks, and other availability can change. Call a provider or 211 before traveling.

Safety

HomelessHelper is an information directory, not an emergency or medical service. Call 911 for immediate danger and call or text 988 for suicide or mental-health crisis support in the United States.

Your choices

You can deny or revoke postal-code permission in the Alexa app and continue using the skill by saying a location. You can stop the skill at any time by saying “stop.”

Questions or privacy requests can be submitted through the HomelessHelper website. Include “Alexa privacy” in your message and do not send sensitive medical or identity information.
